Bicycle lights
If you want to be highly visible to other road users and also just want to see the road well yourself, it is best to make sure you have good bicycle lights. You can’t be visible enough in traffic. And not only when it is dark, but also in bad weather because visibility is limited even then.
By the way, bicycle lights, such as a properly working front and rear light, are mandatory in the dark. If you don’t have fixed lights, then rechargeable bicycle lights are a good alternative. Ensure adequate lighting on your bicycle and let your light shine bright!

Different types of bicycle lights

What does Belgian law say about bicycle lights? Here’s a summary:
- When it starts getting dark, you are obliged to turn on your bicycle lights. Even during the day, when you cannot see beyond approximately 200 m (30 parked cars) or when it is foggy.
- Your front light is white or yellow and your rear light is red. They can flash, but it’s not mandatory.
