Drinking bottles

Drinking bottles save tons of single-use plastic bottles and will motivate you to drink enough every day. They are available in lots of colours, prints and sizes, and with different caps. Drinking bottles are a handy, trendy and sustainable solution to quench your thirst. You could opt for a drinking bottle with a straw, for example, or an insulated bottle that keeps your drinks hot or cold. Or how about a water bottle with a special sports cap, so you can hydrate during your workout? Whatever your preference, all the drinking bottles in our range are 100% BPA-free, safe and leakproof!

How do I choose the best drinking bottle?

Treating yourself to a sip of ice-cold water, refreshing fruit juice, or a cup of hot coffee requires a drinking bottle that suits you. When making your choice, consider the following factors:

  • Insulation: do you prefer to drink water ice-cold instead of room temperature? Or do you also want to be able to enjoy a hot drink on the go? You can do both with an insulation bottle. They are made of stainless steel and more robust than an ordinary drinking bottle because of the double-sided wall that creates a kind of vacuum. This prevents hot and cold air from entering or leaving.
  • Content: only a little thirsty or just taking a short trip? Then a 300 ml to 500 ml bottle will suffice. Really thirsty or ready for a big adventure? Then choose a bottle of 800 ml or more.
  • Material: we have drinking bottles in aluminium, stainless steel, plastic, and copolyester.
    • Aluminium: lightweight, sustainable, and coated to protect the material from acidic drinks. Cheaper than stainless steel.
    • Stainless steel: even more sustainable than aluminium, dents less quickly, is abrasion-resistant, and does not absorb taste or smell.
    • Plastic: lightweight and relatively cheap, but unfortunately not always recyclable and thus less sustainable.
    • Copolyester: also known as ‘tritan’, does not absorb odour or taste and is very strong.
  • Cap: a good bottle cap is leakproof and easy to open and close. But there is also the right cap for every type of adventure and preference:
    • Twist cap: leakproof and often comes with a carrying ring.
    • Sports cap: useful for those who want to be able to use their bottle with one hand.
    • Lid with flip top: leakproof and suitable for hot drinks.
    • Spout: useful for small children who cannot yet drink well from a bottle.

Other features you can still take into account are whether your bottle is dishwasher-proof, whether it doesn’t contain harmful substances like BPA (you won’t find those at A.S.Adventure anyway!), and whether you can also use the cap as a cup.

FAQ – Frequently asked questions about drinking bottles

Materials such as stainless steel, glass, silicone, and bamboo are the most sustainable raw materials for drinking bottles because they are long-lasting and easy to recycle. You can also look at the producer. Local brands are always a good idea; some also do research on potable water or make potable water available in developing countries.

A good drinking bottle is a must-have for a successful school year. Because it’s important your kids stay well hydrated if they want to remain focused in class and have enough energy for playtime. A few things to look out for:

  • The right size: if a bottle is too big, young children with their little hands will drop it more easily. One that’s too small for older kids, who need to drink more, will need refilling too often.
  • The right material: steel is always a good choice because, even without a coating, it is suitable for all types of drinks. Aluminium and most plastics do require a coating, as these materials react badly to the acidity of some drinks. All the drinking bottles in our collection are both BPA-free and 100% safe!
  • A handy cap: a cap to twist open, a straw, a valve cap system, a sports cap, etc. A brand like Klean Kanteen offers different types of caps that you can buy separately. Very handy!
  • The right insulation: the advantage of bottles with double-walled insulation is that they keep drinks cool and hot for longer.
  • The cutest design: the most important factor for your kids! Make sure they enjoy drinking from their water bottle. First make a pre-selection, and then let them choose their favourite colour or the coolest print!

Apart from that, it is especially important that the drinking bottle you pick is leakproof. A wet school bag is no fun.

The tap water in our country is perfectly drinkable. Moreover, every plastic bottle of water you don’t buy is one less bottle in the bin! Because even though Belgium recycles more than half of all plastic packaging, avoiding waste is more sustainable than recycling it. It also makes a huge difference in the consumption of raw materials in the long run.

Obviously you need to rinse your drinking bottle with clean water after use. But if you want to give it a more in-depth clean, it is important to know what material your bottle is made of. You can find this info on the product page on our website.

Drinking bottles with an attractive colour or print, for example, have a coating, which can be damaged if cleaned in a dishwasher. It will cause the colours to fade. In this case, it is better to wash your bottle by hand. It doesn’t take long with a special cleaning brush. Want to give your bottle a really thorough clean? Then add a little bicarbonate of soda, baking soda or a cleaning tablet to the water.

Bottles made of glass and copolyester can be washed in the dishwasher. This is often, but not always the case with stainless steel. So check the product page and/or label carefully.
