Cooler bag, cool box, backpack cooler: which one do you take with you when you travel? To make the choice a little easier, we’re happy to explain them below.
When buying a cooler, consider the activity and where you want to keep your food and drinks cool.
For home use and on the beach, you can get a cooler that works with cooling elements. For a day out, choose an easy-to-carry format that also fits in the car. Choose a lager capacity of your cooler for garden parties!
If you want to keep your provisions cool in the car on the way to your destination, check whether your cooler fits behind one of the passenger seats or in the boot. If you’ve got a model that can be connected with a 12 V plug, you don’t need to bring along cooling elements.
If you’re going camping, a cooler with an inverter or a 220 V plug comes in handy. There are also examples that work with gas canisters. Also consider the size carefully: a family of six will need a larger cooler than just two people going camping. Also pay attention to the cooling capacity, the power consumption, and the noise level emitted by the cooler.
You can lower the temperature in your cool box or cooler bag by putting ice or cooling elements in it. With active coolers, the temperature is cooled using electricity.
Clean your cool bag before and after use with a clean, damp cloth and leave to dry. Always store the bag with the zip or flap open in a dust-free place.
Clean your cool box before and after use with some lukewarm water and a drop of washing-up liquid and allow to dry thoroughly. Store it with the lid open or clamp a dry dishcloth between them. Unpleasant odours can be removed by soaking a mixture of water and baking soda inside your cool box for a few hours. Afterwards, wash out well with clean water.
