Our story starts with the Lathouwers family. They started a hardware shop in Hoboken in 1937. A second one was added in Borgerhout 15 years later. In 1958, they took over their first Stock Americain at Antwerp’s Vogelmarkt.
After a while, the company owned five 'American stock houses' (hence the name ‘A.S.Adventure’) that sold surplus US Army equipment from World War II. Starting in 1995, founder Emiel Lathouwers wanted to distinguish his stores by offering a unique mix of outdoor and lifestyle products and the rest is, well… history.

For us, adventure is not a destination or activity if you look at it in a broad sense. It’s not a round-the-world trip or kayaking on a wild river. It does motivate you to be more positive and conscious about the way you live your life. The reason why we dare to deviate from the seemingly safe path and go out to constantly discover new things. In every facet of life, with respect for people and the environment.

You’ll meet our dedicated staff when you drop by one of our stores. They’ve all got specialised knowledge as well as experience. And because they continuously attend training courses as well as test products, they know exactly what you need.
Our buyers and experts closely follow the latest developments, trends, and technologies. They regularly meet with our suppliers, go to trade fairs, and know about the production and technicality of materials.

Are your hiking shoes worn out after all those kilometres? Then we’ll repair them. Are you ready for something new anyway? Then donate your old stuff and put it in the Recycle Boxes. It is then either donated or forms the raw material for a new product.
Our rental range, tangible carbon reductions, and support for the underprivileged at home and abroad are also part of our corporate social responsibility.
